A very nicely preserved quite early edition of perhaps the most influential evangelical / protestant book on the Lord's Supper during the 17th and 18th centuries. In his always pastoral and deeply devotional way, Henry rightly encourages communion as significant and a means of grace in terms of the ongoing reception of Christ's love, and yet as deeply spiritual, separated from the elements themselves and to be received through the Spirit in prayerfulness, thanksgiving, and faith. It's a beautiful work and a welcome correction to our often rather glib way of passing by the act of the Lord's Supper.
