The HIOKI CT6700 and CT6701 are clamp-type current probes (clamp sensors) designed to measure current with high accuracy and wide bandwidth. Used in combination with an oscilloscope or a HIOKI MEMORY HiCORDER, they support the design and verification of electrical devices, medical instruments, and electronic parts. Both are highly-sensitive probes able to measure low-level currents from 1 mA, addressing the need for higher sensitivity in current consumption and control-current evaluation.
These probes are applied to measuring the current of automobile electronic parts such as compact motors, observing control currents on the mA order, and evaluating the current characteristics of circuit components. They are used to evaluate high-speed switching elements — capturing the ON/OFF response of semiconductors that operate at high speeds, ripple waveforms, and switching loss — across applications such as solenoid valves, relay control current, condenser current, the waveform of an inverter when switched on, evaluation of LED light driving circuits, and compact motors. They can also catch noise waveforms over a wide frequency bandwidth when testing the correct functioning of built-in circuits.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own test-and-measurement inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Holding our own stock in Elgin lets us confirm what we have on hand and get the right probe out the door quickly.
The CT6700/CT6701 series consists of two highly-sensitive HIOKI clamp current probes built to measure low-level currents from 1 mA at a 1 V/A output rate — ten times the sensitivity of legacy models. The two probes share the same 5 A rms rated current, ±7.5 A peak handling, 5 mm conductor clamping, one-button zero-adjustment and demagnetization, and warning features, and both require a separate power supply.
The models differ primarily in frequency coverage and speed: the CT6700 reaches DC to 50 MHz and the CT6701 reaches DC to 120 MHz. Each is its own product page so the right bandwidth tier can be selected for the application.
Each model below links to its own dedicated new product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model whose bandwidth and specifications fit your measurement, then choose the listing that matches the condition you need.
The two probes are separated by bandwidth and rise time: the CT6700 covers DC to 50 MHz (-3 dB) with a rise time of 7.0 ns or less, while the CT6701 covers DC to 120 MHz (-3 dB) with a rise time of 2.9 ns or less. The effect of external magnetic fields also differs — 20 mA max for the CT6700 and 5 mA max for the CT6701 (DC and 60 Hz, magnetic field of 400 A/m).
Specifications common to both — 5 A rms maximum rated current, ±7.5 A peak (non-continuous), 1 V/A output, 50 Ω ±10% output resistance, and a 1 mA measurement floor — are identical across the series. See the comparison table for the per-model values.
| Model | Bandwidth | Rise Time | Max RMS Current |
|---|---|---|---|
| CT6701 | DC to 120 MHz (-3dB) | 2.9 ns or less | 5 A rms |
| CT6700 | DC to 50 MHz (-3dB) | 7.0 ns or less | 5 A rms |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Requires a separate HIOKI power supply (3269 or 3272) for operation.
Important: A separate power supply is required when using the CT6700/CT6701. The Power Supply 3269 (supports up to 4 current probes) or Power Supply 3272 (supports 2 current probes) is not included with the base probe and must be ordered separately.
Important: About the 3272 Power Supply: when using a CT6700/CT6701 and a different sensor simultaneously, you may not be able to use two sensors at once depending on the current consumption; check the specifications of the corresponding sensor.
