A nice EF Payne Model 97 bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels like a #3. Late model "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch". The action is a sweet medium to medium slow. The rod weighs 2.8 ounces on my scale. The rod has been refinished by dipping and then wrapped afterwards. The stripping guide is non-original and the tip top is a large hoop replacement. Brown main wraps with yellow edges and what looks like the black edge at the keeper and male ferrules. The ferrule fits are fine and retain 99% of the oxidation. The rod is straight. The grip is 5 1/2 inches long and shaped to a medium cigar profile which has been sanded lightly to remove hand soiling. The reel seat is a cap and ring which retains 99% of its oxidation over a Spanish cedar spacer. The non-original bag has no hang tag. The tube is original with the Payne data sticker and gray felt in the brass top.
