A delightful pair of vintage Staffordshire Dogs by William Kent, finished in a striking black-and-white palette with expressive orange muzzles and traditional chain collars. Measuring just 17cm tall, they offer all the charm of classic mantlepiece spaniels in a compact, easy-to-style size, perfect for English cottage homes and smaller spaces.
Produced around the 1940s to 1950s, these figures reflect the hallmarks of William Kent’s recognisable mid-century style. Their hand-painted spots and bold facial features are full of character, while the surface is finished with a fine decorative crazing, intentionally applied to enhance the antique look and tactile appeal.
Each dog bears the official William Kent backstamp: “Staffordshire Ware, Kent, Made in England” alongside the Staffordshire Knot, a mark of authenticity and collectable value.
Founded in 1894, William Kent was one of the last prominent manufacturers of traditional Staffordshire flatback figures, producing dogs, cats and cottage-style ornaments until the factory’s closure in 1962. Today, the firm’s work is celebrated for its warmth, whimsy, and enduring decorative charm.
Their compact size makes them ideal for adding a touch of character to even the smallest corners of your home — a perfect fit for country-inspired interiors, grandmacore styling, or vintage shelves in modern spaces.
