The name I chose is connected with the neolithic people of Mnajdra, who might have viewed Filfla as an altar in the open sea. They worshiped the mother goddess of fertility, bearer of life. ‘a symbol of the unity of life in nature and the personification of all that was sacred and mysterious on earth.’ – Marija Gimbutas
Most probably Filfla influenced also the choice of location where the temple was built. These are mostly speculations, but they make so much sense to me..
