Artist Matthew Echevarria brings the heart to light with an array of colors in his latest piece. The black acrylic around the heart represents the darkness we all feel at times in our lives. Echevarria transforms the darkness and explodes the heart with vibrant colors overcoming our pain through love, caring, strength and forgiveness. His work shows we can find peaced and joy no matter our situation in life. 

Echevarria knows all about darkness as he continues to fight an unjust case which has lasted for 24 years of fwrongful incarceration. Along the journey, he has educated himself, learned the law and the Illinois Innocence Project has picked up his case to prove his innocence in a broken and at times corrupt system.
