OUR PLANE'S STORY

BuNo 39957 joined the U.S. Navy fleet on April 27, 1943, serving as a vital training and utility aircraft across several naval air stations, including NAS Oceana and NAS Anacostia. It was later remanufactured in 1953 to JRB-6 specifications, extending its service life and continuing its contributions to Navy operations for years. Years later, long after its service had ended, this aircraft was rediscovered in an aircraft boneyard, collecting dust alongside other movie props-until now. 

The JRB-6 Expeditor traces its lineage to the famed Beechcraft Model 18, an aircraft renowned for its versatility and reliability. More than 9,000 units were produced, with variations serving extensively in military roles - transport, navigation, reconnaissance, and training - earning the aircraft a revered place in aviation history.
