An excellent Edward Vom Hofe 423 single action 4/0 reel set up for RHW. Serial Z322. 13.2 oz. Excellent used condition. Some corrosion staining on the aluminum foot, a bit of minor screw head marring, and some micro rash on the German Silver protective bands (both the foot and the bands should polish out nicely). The owner's name, who was a frequent guest at the St. Marguerite club on the Quebec north shore, is engraved on the hard rubber side plate and highlighted in red, as well as the date of 1931.  Everything else on the reel is in perfect mechanical condition. The hard rubber side plates have no imperfections. The spool, serpentine handle, and reel foot are aluminum. The double pillars, protective rims, on-off button, drag selector and oil cover are German Silver.  The reel foot is stamped "423" and "4/0" and the serial # Z322. The reel packs into a leather case stamped "E. Vom Hofe, Maker, 97 Fulton St, N.Y." and "4/0" on the back strap. The front buckle strap is broken and the case could use some T.L.C. to soften the leather. More information about the original owner is available upon request.
