This cushion-shaped chrysoberyl is a light golden yellow, and is set within a cluster set with a mix of early 20th century circular- and single-cut diamonds, to shoulders delicately modelled as laurel leaves. Chrysoberyl is a beautiful and very historic stone, and though its cat’s eye and colour-changing alexandrite varieties are well-known, chrysoberyl itself is not commonly seen in modern jewellery. Chrysoberyl comes in a variety of colours, in a spectrum that runs from pale yellows to golden browns to green, and these beautiful hues gained particularly popularity in Spain and Portugal, where entire parures of jewellery were made of it in throughout the 18th century. This ring is a beautiful 20th century use of this beguiling stone, looks wonderful when worn, and would be the perfect jewel for anyone looking for something a little more unusual to add to their collection.
