King Bali, a powerful but righteous demon king, granted three strides of land to Vamana, the dwarf priest incarnation of Vishnu.

• As soon as Bali agreed, Vamana expanded into a gigantic form, covering earth to heaven in just one stride.
• Lord Brahma, the Creator, washed Vamana’s foot with holy water from his kamandal (sacred water pot) as a gesture of reverence.
• From this holy water, Goddess Ganga was born, later descending to Earth as the divine river Ganga.
• This event symbolizes the sanctity of Ganga, making her a sacred river that purifies sins and grants liberation.
