Most over-the-counter spicule formulations generate surface-level stimulation intended to induce transient tightening. While micro-spicule activation may increase epidermal turnover signals, the majority of retail systems do not incorporate structured post-activation modulation or controlled dermal support
The Volume Boost Spicule Facial and Eye Programs were engineered to address this structural limitation.
Designed as calibrated two-phase dermal bio-stimulation systems for professional application, the protocols integrate controlled activation followed by structured recovery to support collagen-related signaling conditions and optimize post-stimulation remodeling environments.
The activation phase utilizes hydrolyzed sponge micro-spicules aligned with documented micro-injury models associated with fibroblast activity during the wound-repair cascade.
Within this defined activation window, the system integrates Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), referenced in aesthetic medicine for structural collagen support; a multi growth factor peptide complex to support extracellular matrix communication and renewal pathways; Sodium DNA (PDRN), associated in regenerative literature with tissue-repair signaling; niacinamide to reinforce barrier integrity and reduce transepidal water loss; and Centella Asiatica derivatives to assist in post-stimulation modulation.
The recovery phase introduces a structured hydrogel matrix engineered to provide controlled occlusion. Occlusive environments are documented to enhance stratum corneum hydration, improve diffusion efficiency, and stabilize the post-activation microenvironment.
This sequential activation–recovery architecture is designed to support collagen-signaling conditions, optimize bioactive diffusion, stabilize barrier response, and enhance visible firmness and elasticity appearance over time.
Developed for professional treatment environments, the Volume Boost protocols represent a structured dermal bio-stimulation framework rather than a single-phase cosmetic resurfacing product.

INTRODUCING
VOLUME BOOST SPICULE EYE PROGRAM
Advanced Multi Mechanism Bio Stimulation System for Visible Firmness and Dermal Density Support
Precision Peri Orbital Bio Stimulation and Regenerative Compression System
The Volume Boost Spicule Eye Program is specifically engineered for the delicate peri orbital region, where collagen decline, dermal thinning, and barrier fragility occur earlier and more rapidly than in other facial areas.
This is a structured two step peri orbital activation and recovery system designed to support visible smoothing, elasticity appearance, and structural resilience.
The spicule eye cream utilizes Hydrolyzed Sponge micro spicules to enhance penetration and initiate controlled superficial stimulation calibrated for thinner tissue. Controlled activation models in dermatologic literature demonstrate that micro injury signaling supports fibroblast activity and collagen pathway activation. This system applies that principle in a non invasive cosmetic format.
Poly L Lactic Acid supports collagen reinforcement signaling during the recovery window. While injectable PLLA is clinically documented for collagen induction, topical PLLA functions as part of a broader dermal support architecture within cosmetic use parameters.
A multi peptide growth factor complex supports cellular renewal and elasticity pathways. Published studies on topical growth factors indicate improvement in fine line appearance and skin recovery when paired with optimized delivery.
Sodium DNA PDRN supports regenerative repair signaling and tissue resilience. Niacinamide addresses brightness and barrier reinforcement, which is particularly important in the under eye region prone to transepidermal water loss.
Centella Asiatica, Madecassoside, and Panthenol assist in calming and recovery. Tremella extract and Sodium Hyaluronate reinforce hydration in a region susceptible to dehydration and creasing.
The hydrogel eye patch creates a localized occlusive compression chamber. Occlusion enhances ingredient diffusion and increases hydration levels, which can temporarily improve fine line visibility. Retinyl Palmitate, a gentler vitamin A derivative, supports epidermal refinement without the irritation profile of stronger retinoids. Tocopherol and Tocopheryl Acetate provide antioxidant protection. Allantoin, Aloe, Chamomile, Cucumber, Lotus Root, and Yam extracts support visible calming and comfort.
Immediately after use, the under eye area appears smoother, more hydrated, and visibly refreshed. With continued protocol use, improvements in elasticity appearance and fine line visibility become more noticeable.
What differentiates this system from typical spicule eye products online is its full bio stimulation architecture. It does not rely solely on tingling sensation or temporary tightening. It integrates controlled activation, collagen support biomaterials, peptide signaling, nucleic acid regeneration, and structured hydrogel compression into one coordinated professional protocol.
This program is designed for fine lines, early laxity, under eye thinning, and structural fatigue within a professional treatment environment.

Just to clarify, when the image refers to a “wound-healing response,” we’re not comparing it to microneedling as the same mechanism. Microneedling is highly dependent on depth and can be a much more intensive treatment depending on how it’s performed. Spicules work in a different way, which is why we describe it as a similar concept for stimulation and support, not the same mechanism. ♥️ It’s simply meant to help illustrate the concept.
We are not suggesting that spicules are the same as microneedling or that one replaces the other. They are completely different treatments with different depths, mechanisms, and outcomes.
We use microneedling as a reference point simply to help explain the concept of stimulation and ingredient delivery, since it is something most professionals are already familiar with.
The goal of the post is to highlight that results are not determined by spicule quantity alone, but by how the full formulation is designed to perform. Higher spicule levels may increase irritation, but that does not necessarily translate to better outcomes.
Similarly, with microneedling, results are not driven by stimulation alone, but also by what is applied and delivered during the process.
As this is shared on a professional platform, it was intended from a conceptual and educational standpoint, but we’re always happy to clarify when needed.
Question 1:
How does the strength of spicules affect the results? Does a higher spicule percentage mean a stronger or more effective product?
A:
There are many products that simply increase spicule content, but without a well-designed formula, a higher percentage can result in a more intense or irritating sensation without delivering meaningful or well-rounded skin benefits.
The purpose of spicules is not only to create micro-stimulation, but also to support skin regeneration and enhance the penetration of other active ingredients. When used on their own, they can trigger a wound-healing response, but without additional supportive ingredients, the overall results may be limited.
With HOP+, spicules are used at a clinically effective level, typically 1%. However, the strength of the product is not defined by the spicules alone.
Spicules function as a delivery system, similar to microneedling. The overall performance is driven by what is formulated alongside them, including regenerative ingredients such as Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), PDRN, growth factors, and peptides.
Rather than focusing on the quantity of spicules, the key difference lies in how the formula is built. This allows for more controlled delivery, improved skin recovery, and more comprehensive results, including hydration, barrier support, and long-term skin improvement.
In other words, it is not just about how much spicule is in the formula, but how effectively the entire system is designed to work together.

Question 2:
How does the intensity of different spicule products compare in terms of how they feel on the skin?
People often ask about the “intensity” or sensation of different spicule-based treatments. While individual response can vary, here is a general guideline based on how the products feel on the skin.
A:
All of these products contain a high percentage of spicules. The difference is not the amount of spicules, but how the overall formula is built around them.
When a formula is heavily centered around spicules as the primary active, the sensation will feel more intense. However, that stronger feeling does not necessarily mean it contains more spicules. It usually means there are fewer supporting ingredients to balance and cushion the delivery.
With our HOP+ spicule programs, the percentage of spicules is still high, but the formulas are more advanced and include complementary ingredients. This allows for added benefits such as hydration, barrier support, and anti-aging, while creating a more controlled and well-rounded experience.
Overall, the spicule levels are comparable across these products, and all are capable of delivering results. The key difference is simply how intense the sensation feels based on how the formula is structured.
If we are speaking purely in terms of perceived intensity, it is important to understand that higher intensity often reflects a more simplified, spicule-focused formula, rather than a higher concentration.
General Intensity Guide (based on skin sensation)

When it comes to spicules, intensity does not necessarily equal better results.
Higher intensity products are often more spicule-focused, which can create a stronger sensation on the skin. However, this does not always translate to more effective or well-rounded outcomes.
That’s why higher percentage spicule treatments are typically designed as structured programs with multiple protocols, rather than a single product approach. This is exactly what you see across our in-treatment spicule systems.
A helpful way to think about spicules is to compare them to microneedling. The stimulation itself creates a response, but the true results come from what is delivered into the skin during that process.
With more advanced formulations such as the HOP+ Spicule Program, spicules are combined with regenerative ingredients like PLLA, PDRN, growth factors, peptides, and more. This allows for improved skin recovery, better support, and more comprehensive results.
Although HOP+ Volume Boost contains a higher level of spicules compared to most retail products, it often feels more controlled and less aggressive on the skin. This is because the formula is designed with additional supporting ingredients that help balance the delivery and improve the overall skin response.
For professional use, our spicule systems are designed to be layered or combined depending on the treatment goal.
For example, a more intensive spicule product can be used during treatment, while a more balanced formula like the HOP+ Volume Boost Program can be used to support recovery and maintain results at home.
In some cases, treatments can also be customized by combining systems. For example, Dr. Spicure can be used alongside HOP+ Volume Boost during treatment, while the Volume Boost program is continued at home for controlled, consistent results.
