Widely considered to be the Most Influential Shaper of All Time, Bob McTavish is responsible much of the evolution of surfboard design from the mid-sixties even to today.
The Plastic Machine is the original vee-bottom design from way back in 1967. This board is a hand-shaped piece of art, made by Bob himself. The design features a wide outline that maintains its width through much of the board. It has a slightly pulled in and pointed nose that is somewhat square in shape. The tail is also pulled into a diamond. The rails are a thin 50/50 but moderately foiled, meant to be fully engaged in the wave. This board has a very low rocker profile with a minimal lift in the nose, which keeps it in speedy trim. The bottom contours consist of a flat entry that transitions to a proper vee near mid board that exaggerates through the tail, creating a rail to rail sensation that is unique to this design.
