A very finely preserved biography of Thomas Scott [1747-1821], long-time friend of John Newton, under whose sway Scott became an evangelical and a lifelong friend, fellow member of the Eclectic Society, etc., Scott was one of the founders of the Church Missionary Society, influenced William Wilberforce and William Carey, was a noted abolitionist connected with the Clapham Sect, etc.
