PC-220PL is a single-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic primerless polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing base membrane. PC-220PL is designed for use in Southern California to be in compliance with SCAQMD air quality standards.
PC-220PL is designed as a liquid-applied, seamless waterproofing membrane. It is a single-component, moisture-cured, elastomeric, primerless aromatic polyurethane that does not require a primer and is ideal for waterproofing applications over concrete, metal, plywood, and wood surfaces.
PC-220PL serves as a base membrane within a coating system. It can be broadcasted with dry, rounded sand to enhance slip resistance and may require top coats depending on the desired system build. When additional coats are needed, it is essential to recoat within 48 hours or reprime the surface using Polyprime U. For accelerated curing, PC-50 additive may be used.
Ideal for:
· Below-grade waterproofing
· Deck coatings
· Roofing systems
· Surfaces where a seamless membrane is critical (concrete, metal, wood, plywood)
· Mixing: Mix with a mechanical mixer slowly to prevent air entrapment. Do not mix in an up-and-down motion.
· Application Tools: Apply with a squeegee or notched trowel. A phenolic resin core roller may be used for touch-ups.
· Aggregate Use: Recommended to broadcast 16 or 20 mesh washed sand (0.84–1.19 mm) at 20 lb/100 sqft (1kg/sqm) for slip resistance.
· Coating Thickness: Approx. 11 ± 2 mils dry film thickness per coat (~279 ± 50 microns)
· Coverage Rate: 1 gallon per 100 sqft (0.41 l/sqm)
· Temperature for Application: 75°F (24°C)
· Humidity: 50% relative humidity recommended
· Pot Life: Not explicitly stated, but product is moisture-cured so pot life begins on opening
· Curing Time:
o Allow 16 hours before applying the next coat
o Full cure time varies with humidity and temperature
· Recoat Window: Must recoat within 48 hours; if exceeded, re-prime with Polyprime U
· Viscosity: 6500 ± 2000 cps at 75°F
· Solids Content: 71% by volume
· VOC Content: 2.01 lb/gal (240 g/liter)
· UV Resistance: Not UV-stable; aromatic polyurethanes tend to degrade under UV, so a UV-stable topcoat would be needed for exposed applications
· Primer Requirement: Primerless on most substrates, but Polyprime U required if recoat window exceeded
· Broadcasting Aggregates: Needed for slip-resistant finishes
· Color Options: Grey or Tan
