A nice Bob Clay (Riverwatch Rods) "Dean's Kispiox" model two handed bamboo fly rod, 11', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 or #7. Serial #14364. Spliced joint design. Pentagonal construction. Good used condition with some hand soiling to the grip and a few light scrapes and nicks to the varnish in a few areas (none appear to me to be problematic). "Riverwatch", "Kispiox Valley 11' - 6/7 14364", and "Dean's Kispiox" inked on successive flats above the grip. Medium wheatstraw colored cane done in a spiral node pattern. The varnish is a matte finish. The rod is wrapped in light red with three signature wraps above the grip, and in addition to the guide wraps, there are also wraps just above the splice edges. Two carbide strippers and chrome guides and tip tops. The splices are protected by plastic tubing and each tube has been inked by the owner to identify which splice it goes to, while some of the splices have also been inked (obviously this wouldn't be visible when the rod is assembled). The top grip measures 12 1/4" and has thin strips of composite fore and aft, while the bottom grip measures approximately 4 7/8" with a single composite strip at the top and a series of three composite strips at the bottom with the last flaring out. As with almost all of Bob's rods that I have handled, a cross section of the cane is visible in the bottom of the grip. The reel seat is a downlocking aluminum screwlock with Bob's maker stamp on the nut, and the spacer is stabilized wood. The rod packs into a brown corduroy bag and a brown frost coated aluminum tube with the Riverwatch logo on the outside and gold anodized hardware. Bob's rods are excellent spey casting tools and are getting increasingly difficult to come by these days.
