These fruits have a sweet skin and fresh sour flesh. The Kumquat comes into its own as a container plant. Choose a large flower pot with holes in the bottom. Cover the bottom with a layer of hydro granules. Put a layer of potting soil in the flower pot and place the citrus tree at the right height. Top up with some more potting soil and press firmly. Give the lemon tree plenty of water immediately after planting. Citrus likes to grow in a sunny, sheltered spot. Pruning a Citrus is not necessarily necessary. Cut back half of branches that are too long in February and remove crossing twigs. Water regularly in summer, rainwater is preferred. The root ball should not get too wet.
Caution; Citrus is not a hardy tree and should therefore be brought indoors well before frost. The citrus tree can also be in the house all year round.
