It’s an AAA lacquer cut from the original stereo master tapes, handled by Kevin Gray, renowned for high-quality vinyl mastering.
Pressed on 180‑gram heavyweight vinyl at Optimal, with a glossy gatefold sleeve and additional liner notes. Packaging is in a heavy gatefold, tip-on sleeve, insert w/ Bob Ezrin notes
Confirmed as a limited edition of 5,000 individually numbered copies, exclusive to Rhino’s production.
Enthusiasts report it sounds notably “cleaner” and improved over previous pressings.
This pressing is a highly regarded true audiophile-grade remaster in a collectible limited edition format [Steve Hoffman].
The original 1971 Warner Bros. pressing of Love It to Death had a notoriously murky midrange and a slightly compressed soundstage, especially on tracks like “Ballad of Dwight Fry” and “Second Coming.” It had raw energy, but not the clarity or separation modern listeners often want.
The Kevin Gray AAA remaster solves that:
--Greater clarity in the vocals and guitars—Alice’s voice sits better in the mix.
--Tighter low-end—Dennis Dunaway’s bass doesn’t smear like in earlier pressings.
--Improved dynamics—the quiet/loud shifts on tracks like “Black Juju” hit harder.
If you have a good turntable setup, this pressing will feel like peeling the dust off the original and hearing it how it was meant to be heard.
