Cushion-shaped diamond saddle ring. An alternative to the cluster ring, diamond rings set with three or four rows of diamonds are sometimes known as ‘saddle’ rings due to their shape, and have been popular since the 18th century. With its three rows of variously cushion-shaped diamonds in pinched collet settings, this attractive ring is a particularly rare Georgian survival, dating from the beginning of the 1800s.
