​The Derby Turf Club, located at 113 South 1st Street in downtown Las Vegas, operated primarily as a horse racing betting establishment in the 1970s. Despite efforts, it never secured a license to operate sports betting, focusing solely on horse racing. Once owned by Jimmy Shoughro, the son-in-law of Harry Gordon—owner of the legendary Churchill Downs Race and Sports Book on the Strip—the Derby Turf Club closed its doors in 1982. The land it occupied is now part of the Golden Nugget Las Vegas.
