This 0.80ct pear-cut diamond is claw-set in an ornate Edwardian setting and adorned with a further thirteen diamonds. Arranged with elegant curves, the principal diamond proudly takes its place at the apex of the ring, serving as the crown jewel. Originating in 15th century Belgium, the pear-cut is one of the oldest diamond cuts, and can be credited to Flemish diamond-cutter Lodewyk van Bercken. His invention, the diamond-polishing wheel, revolutionised diamond cutting, enabling precise facet placement which led to the possibility of more complex diamond cuts. In the same era, he created the first pear-shaped diamond. Since then, pear-shaped diamond engagement rings have been a timeless choice for couples celebrating their love.
