A Paul H Young Martha Marie bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tips. Serial #4632. The rod weighs 3.9 ounces. 1974 manufacture date. Fair condition due to corrosion on the male slides and to the snake guides and tip tops (unfortunately I couldn't put the rod together to evaluate the action). The butt and one tip are glued with resorcinol glue and the other may be a later replacement as the seams are white rather than black. The cane is flamed and the node pattern is two opposed. The wraps are a copper color with a stripping guide and black snake guides. The rod appears to have been left out on a bench while the garage was painted as there are several dots of red and blue paint here and there. The grip is 5 3/4" long and turned to a half wells. The reel seat is a black anodized downlocking screwlock with the cork spacer and aluminum pocket cap (also black anodized). The pocket cap is stamped "Paul H Young Co, Detroit - Mich" in a square cartouche. The rod bag is a maroon silk-like material. The rod tube is all aluminum with a gold anodized collar. A good candidate here for a little refurbishment to bring it back up to par as a good fishable Martha Marie.
