The power supply is ideal for supplying small electronic devices using the terminals from batteries. When you build a solar PV system it might not be possible to have a mains adaptor next to the inverter. To eliminate compatibility issues with various sockets (US, UK, EU), we use this DC-DC step-down converter to supply 5V low-power electronics.

It is commonly used with our orange-pi and raspberry-pi controllers that run the solar-assistant software.
