Original to c.1915, this ring is a work of art! It is what is known as a cross-over ring, which is a style similar to the iconic Toi-et-moi design, meaning 'you and me' in French. These pearls are natural saltwater pearls which are incredibly scare and hugely valuable.
Today, natural pearls are seldom found with nearly all oysters no longer being able to produce these miraculous gems. To find two of matching colour and charmingly irregular baroque shape is truly amazing and very rarely done. It can often take year and year to match pearls up for jewellery. Both pearls have been examined by GCS and the ring is accompanied by a gemmological pearl report confirming their natural, untreated character.
The pearls are set in very pretty and delicate cups, each engraved with individual petals borders by fine millegrain edging and set with a tiny rose-cut diamond on each. To a round single-cut diamond in a rub-over setting with polished edges, which then leads to the shoulders of the ring which are further grain-set with single-cut diamonds and elegantly wrap around the finger in a refined cross-over style.
Everything about this ring is breathtaking. It really is the definition of what Edwardian jewellery strived to be: elegant, feminine and embodying a sense of airy lightness which no other era has ever come close to matching!
Excellent: all stones are secure and well set, with no damage to the mount. Professionally polished and carefully inspected by our workshop, ready to wear and enjoy.
Unless stated otherwise, gem weights and specifications are estimated (assessed in mount).
