A nice early Orvis CFO IV screwback fly reel, 3 1/8" diameter and set for LHW though easily reversible. This is the early model of the CFO, and dates to 1972 (it lacks the lineguard that would be introduced from 1973 onward. Made in England. Good used condition with some minor marks to the frame and one small area on the spool edge where the finish has flaked off, but overall the reel is in fine shape. It has an exposed spool rim for easy palming and the tensioner still works great. The reel foot has three holes machined in it, a characteristic of these early models. The reel weighs 3.4 ounces on my scale and would work great for anything from a 4-7 wt rod. The reel packs into the original reel brown suede reel case which includes the original paper care pamphlet for the reel folded inside.
