An early 19th century emerald and diamond ring, circa 1800. Set with a cushion cut foiled emerald in a vibrant shade of green encircled by a boarder of old cushion-cut diamonds. All gemstones are closed back and foiled, a typical Georgian technique to enhance the intensity of colour and sparkle of each stone. Georgian diamond rings are becoming rare, especially those set with emeralds. The scrolling open work design is an unusual motif, especially for this period, with trumpeting diamond shoulders encasing two further emeralds continuing down to a solid gold ridged shank. A truly special ring with a lot of history in excellent condition.
