The flat cannon is atypical but is very comfortable for certain horses as it articulates around an axis (90°) and offers a large contact surface to the horse. The thinness of the cannon makes it stronger. This Pelham bit can be used directly with two reins or with four reins. Therefore, the curb chain action can be softened by using other curb chain types as leather or nylon ones.
