A Carved, 19th Century, Flemish Style, Oak Bench / Settle
Made in the 19th Century and styled in the 17th Century, Flemish manner. Fantastic and detailed carved panels depicting various Dutch scenes. The bench is mounted with multiple Lion masks on the panels as well as on either arm. The bench is the mounted on claw feet.
The bench is in overall good condition for being over 150 years old, however, there are some faults that should be mentioned. The base in the bench has broken through on the front end and would need repairing if it was to be used for storage. There is a chunk missing from the rightmost edge of the bench but has been historically coloured to blend in with the rest of the frame. In the photos, you will also see that some of the panels are separating showing a gap between the sections of wood on one of the panels as well as the bench seat itself. Finally, there is evidence of historic woodworm, but this is no longer live. These faults are what would be expected with age and commensurate with use, but please see photos for true condition.
The bench measures 157cm L x 130cm T x 51cm D.
