Amaro Averna is the Authentic Italian Aperitif Drink. Since 1868, Amaro Averna has represented true Sicilian craft with a story rooted in heritage and tradition.

The Early Beginnings

The secret recipe was crafted in the early nineteenth century by the Benedictine monks of Abbazia Di Santo Spirito. They produced a liqueur that told the unique aromas and flavors of the land through Mediterranean herbs and a typical contrast of sweet and bitter flavors.

Production

The heart of the Averna production, the infusion of herbs, is carried out in Caltanissetta, in central Sicily and bottled in the Gruppo Campari plant. It is made according to the traditional recipe that has remained unchanged since 1868 and that includes a lengthy infusion process that is undoubtedly one of the most unique and authentic in existence today.

Taste

Averna has a mouth-coating and bittersweet taste, carrying hints of orange and licorice, balanced with notes of myrtle, juniper berries, rosemary, and sage. It stimulates the senses, instantly transporting you to their homeland, and making Averna not just an amaro, but a true experience.

The experience of tasting Averna can be done in a number of ways to savor the flavors at their best.

Either straight up or with a few cubes of ice, or even adding Mediterranean herbs like sage or mint with lemon peel to compliment the flavor and stimulate the senses.
