Patented Mason’s Ironstone English pottery Jug with Serpent Handle stamp. Style Georgian thought to be early 19th century.  This jug has the octagonal ‘hydra’ shape and is decorated in the ‘Basket Japan’ pattern which is one of the the well-known chinoiserie patterns using bold hand painted enamels of cobalt blue, green and burnt orange all in various shades with gilt detailing.
