Installation Pro-Tip:

For a 24-inch wide tab, ensuring a perfectly flat mounting surface is critical. If your transom has a slight curve, do not force the hinge to bend; instead, use a marine-grade shim or additional 3M 5200 sealant to fill any gaps. To maximize efficiency, mount the tabs as far outboard as possible (usually 3–4" from the chine), but ensure they remain at least 8 inches away from the propeller to avoid inducing cavitation.
