This charming bread and butter dish was made by the New Hall Pottery Co. in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, during the 1930s. The company, established in 1899/1900, took over the historic New Hall Works, a site with roots in the celebrated 18th-century New Hall Porcelain, and became known for its beautifully decorated tableware.
Pattern No. 1264 features a finely detailed lace-like central medallion, a teal and gold border, and scattered floral sprays in soft pinks, blues, and yellows. The warm cream glaze and gently scalloped rim, complete with twin side handles, give it a graceful and practical form.
Popular with afternoon tea lovers, the bread and butter or cake dish shape is perfect for serving scones, cakes, or sandwiches, and also makes a decorative display piece when not in use. This is a lovely example of British interwar-period tableware that combines everyday function with timeless elegance.
