Rings in this shape are known as ‘navette’ rings, as their shape resembles the keel of a boat. They have a flattering effect of the appearance of the hand, making it seem longer and more slender, which is partially why they shot to popularity in the 18th century. This 20th century navette ring centres on an oval cushion-shaped sapphire in a dreamy and well-saturated mid-blue - a great colour which unsurprisingly led the stone to be associated with the heavens throughout history, standing out beautifully from its backdrop of pavé-set circular-cut diamonds.
