A very nice Hardy Silex Multiplier reel, 2 3/4" diameter. This design with the half moon regulator was made in this size from 1928 until 1939, and, as stated in Drewett's book, only about 400 or so of these was ever produced. This one is in excellent condition and free of any major defects that I could find. The patina is solid, the click is very smooth and the reel is tight. There is a tiny bit of play in the ebonite reel handle but nothing troublesome. The ribbed brass foot is unaltered and the ivorine release lever is excellent. All in all a very fine example of this most unusual and rare Hardy. The reel comes in an aftermarket neoprene pouch.
