A curb gag is similar to a gag but has a different effect. The pressure will now not be behind the ears but on the lower jaw/chin. The cord runs under the chin and the cheekpieces are attached to the extra ring at the top. This bit is effective for strong, hot horses and is mainly used by show jumpers. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders.  

The Dr. Bristol mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat insert. During relaxation, this insert lies flat on the tongue and exerts light pressure. When the horse hits the bit with the tongue and threatens to take over control, the intermediate piece tilts, causing the bit to have a sharp effect on the tongue. This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders. 

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface corrosion through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production naturally. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This corroding process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-gray.
