■SPOON developed and installed STIFF PLATE FRONT to improve the ground feeling and handling stability of the S660 front section, achieving high maneuverability. However, as we proceeded with the development of the car body, we pursued a higher level of steering stability to improve the situation where we were forced to constantly make corrections due to the ``insufficient rigidity'' and ``unreliability'' transmitted from the steering, and we investigated the cause and conducted development tests. I've been piling up. The part that caused this problem was the steering gear box fastener. Normally, the steering gearbox is firmly connected to the subframe with four or more bolts. However, the S660 is fastened with just two bolts, and the bolt holes in the fastened part have play, so it always twists and requires minor adjustments. By increasing the number of joints between the body and steering gearbox, we aimed for a highly rigid structure that allows the body and gearbox to withstand even large inputs. As with STIFF PLATE FRONT, a special press mold was designed using 3D CAD, and 1.6mm thick JSC780 super high tensile strength material was formed using an 800t hydraulic press. In addition, we created a special collar for the gap between the fastening bolts using the same principle as Rigicolor. By increasing the fastening strength of the steering gearbox itself, we were able to achieve a direct, moist, and high-quality steering feel.
