Informal information:
An artisan made production suiban by Harumatsu. Suitable for either displaying a suiseki stone or perhaps a rock planted tree. The edge is in a Namako running blue, and the interior is a spectacular blue nebula.
The tray is a second because the interior glaze did not 'fit' the clay perfectly, which resulted in delayed spalling / popping of small fragments of glaze. I believe this will have occured over a delayed time period, say 5 or 10 years. I do not believe this process is ongoing, and have stabilised it with a museum grade clear epoxy resin. The resin is just in the cracks of spalled glaze, not over the entire surface.
I money-back guarantee the condition of this pot will not deteriorate further, so if it's the kind of thing you were looking for, please consider it as it is perfectly useable. The price is what I paid for it.
Condition: Used, glaze defect & repair as described.
Harumatsu, Seto region, the Harumatsu name covers three generations of potters, and they're intertwined with the Tosui line of potters. The Harumatsu potters are most famed for their Suiban, Harumatsu Rokumisai hand made unique pieces and was a master craftsman. He also taught Haruyoshi, who is sometimes considered to be part of the Harumatsu line. Harumatsu bonsai pots can vary greatly in price, there are some very basic production pots, good artisan production pots and then hand made works. I will always try to point out specifics on each pot for this sometimes confusing line of potters!
