Wonderful decorative platform ticket of admission to the British and Foreign Bible Society at Birmingham [UK} for 1898 where Theodore Monod would be speaking. 

Measuring 2 x 3 inches appx in very good condition. Rear boldly inscribed, "Th. Monod. Birmingham. Oct. 10, 1898. 'Thy testimonies are very sure.'

Monod was born in France, 1836. While studying law in Pennsylvanie, he was exposed to the higher life teachings of Robert Pearsall Smith and traveled with him in 1874 to help assist with the famed Higher Life Conferences in England that led to the formation of the Keswick Movement. This was known as the Oxford Union Meeting for the Promotion of Scriptural Holiness in August-September of 1874 and the Brighton Conference in 1875. Monod was one of the speakers. He then became a higher life evangelist, including as a regular at the Keswick Convention. 

From 1875 to 1879 he published the Liberateur magazine. Among his personal writings, 1862 saw the publishing of Regardant Jésus, which was published as Looking to Jesus in 1864. Revival sermons were included in Le don de dieu. Allocutions (Paris in 1876, published as the Gift of God (1876) and in German (1882), and the Life More Abundant (1881).
