Inexplicably scarce, a very nicely preserved two volume set of the only edition of the correspondence of James Waddell Alexander of Princeton [1804-1859]. He was son of the equally famed Princeton Presbyterian, Archibald Alexander, who was succeeded as Principal of Princeton by Samuel Miller.

Absolutely superb content, including well in excess of 100 references to the Presbyterian church's interaction with slavery, abolitionism, colonization, and the efforts at evangelism and mission among both free black persons and enslaved persons. 

Also, extensive content related to the aftermath of the Second Great Awakening. He specifically laments that he is forced to harvest among the bitter fruit of Finney's ministry, etc,. As well as from the 1857-1858 Prayer Revival, where he played a major role in the Philadelphia instance of the movement [the three main hubs being New York, Boston, and Philadelphia].
