The pavements reach unbearable temperatures and our dogs struggle to get comfortable even indoors in the shade. During a heatwave, dogs large and small look for shade and cold floors to lie on, as they’re unable to regulate their body temperature as efficiently as us.

We designed our dog cooling vest to alleviate the discomfort that the hot weather brings by keeping the core temperature of your dog down and giving them some reprieve from the heat.

How Do Cooling Vests For Dogs Work?
The George Barclay ClimaCOOL® Dog Jacket uses natural evaporative cooling to help keep your dog cool during hot weather. Before putting the dog cooling jacket on your dog, simply immerse it in cold water then lightly squeeze. This will remove some of the excess water. Then place your dog’s left leg through the jacket leg hole and secure the collar and the girth buckles. To get the fit right, adjust the buckles until it is snug but not too tight.

Note: During use, ensure the jacket is checked regularly, add cold water if the jacket is drying out.

How Long Do Dog Cooling Vests Last?
The dog cooling vest will continue to work as long as it is wet. After the first application, it will stay cool long enough for your dog to find some comfort. Of course, the length of time it will last will depend on the temperature – in hotter weather, you will probably need to reapply water more often.

Re-apply water to the jacket at regular intervals to keep the jacket’s cooling properties. You can do this by either removing the jacket and immersing it in water again or by applying water to the jacket while it is on the dog – using a spray bottle or a wet sponge will stop your dog from getting too wet.

How Do You Wash a Dog's Cooling Coat?
To clean machine wash at 30 degrees with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach and be sure to air dry.
