A large 19th century rustic French carved wood dough bowl, circa 1890s. Found in every French kitchen, these rustic bowls were typically hand carved from a single block of wood. Used for mixing and kneading dough, cooks also let their dough rise in the same bowl. A wonderful aged patina with tooling marks and rusty iron band added at a later date for reinforcement only add to the character. This versatile bowl will add a touch of French Country charm wherever it's used. Perfect for use as a centerpiece to display fruits, vegetables, or flowers, a hallway catch-all, or use to hold towels or toiletries in a guest bath. We have several to choose from.
