These small, deeply textured, dark iron coloured teacups are handmade by Minna Graham in her Daylesford studio. The teacups have an earthy, iron oxide brown-black exterior that is complimented by a heavily speckled quail egg celadon interior glaze. As a result of being fired in a gas kiln, each cup has its own one-of-a-kind finish with complex reduction effects in the inner glaze.
In terms of shape and feel, these teacups have a tall profile and an irregularly carved multifaceted outer surface that makes them easy to grip and texturally engaging to touch. Each teacup sits on a small heptagonal foot and has a soft-edged rim curves into a deep cylindrical interior - making it comfortable to drink from and practical for pouring tea into.
Owing to each teacup's unique shape, hue, and textural finish, it can be bought individually as a standalone piece in your teaware collection, or in multiples to form a bold stoneware tea setting or chaxi (茶席 chá xí).
Each cup can hold approximately 80ml of liquid and pair beautifully with our Black Fairness Cup by Minna Graham.
Please note: Each purchase is for a single teacup.
