Sadhu is a person who has denounced all materialistic and worldly pleasures. Sadhu means to religiously performs Sadhana – the practice of spiritual discipline. The sole objective of a Sadhu is to achieve Liberation and Self-realisation. The term Sadhu exists from the time of Vedic culture and has been mentioned in Rigveda and Atharvaveda. A sadhu lives a simple life and wears simple clothes, there body and face smeared with ashes and have long hairlocks. They are found in all holy, pilgrimage places.
