Legendary shaper, Marc Andreini, developed the Special K model for one of surfing's most notable displacement hull figures, Kirk Putnam, one of Andreini's close friends. Although Putnam, being a Liddle guy, is a man who appreciated the design theory behind convex bottom contours and knifey rails, the Special K has a hard edged, boxy rail foil with a bottom contour that starts with a gentle roll that transitions into a single concave and a predominant spiral vee out the tail.
