A remarkable and collectible pair of Frank Gehry "Twist" stools — one of the most iconic and architecturally significant furniture designs of the 20th century. Created as part of Gehry's celebrated Easy Edges series, these stools are constructed from layered and laminated corrugated cardboard — the material that made Gehry famous in the furniture world before he became the most celebrated architect of his generation.
Frank Gehry (born 1929) needs little introduction — the Pritzker Prize-winning architect behind the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and some of the most significant buildings of the past fifty years. His Easy Edges furniture series (originally 1969–1973, later produced by Knoll) demonstrated that corrugated cardboard — an industrial material of zero glamour — could be transformed into furniture of extraordinary structural integrity, warmth, and sculptural beauty. The series was a sensation and remains a landmark in the history of design. Gehry Easy Edges pieces are held in major museum collections worldwide including MoMA and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
