An early 19th century emerald and diamond ring, circa 1800. Set with a rectangular-cut emerald in a vibrant shade of green shouldered by old cushion-cut diamonds. The diamonds are set in closed-back settings, a typical Georgian technique to enhance the intensity of colour and sparkle of each stone. Georgian diamond rings are becoming rare, especially those set with emeralds. The scrolling open-work design is an unusual motif, especially for this period, with trumpeting diamond shoulders and a scrolling gold work motif leading to a solid gold ridged shank. A truly special ring with a lot of history in excellent condition.

Why I love it...
“ A stunning ring! A perfect example of an early 19th century dress ring. Everything about this ring is wonderful; it has such charm and character. Amazingly, the ring still has an original inscription saying ‘Souvenir… 1831’. It also comes in a beautiful Georgian ring box! ”
