I have explored wild areas from almost one pole of Earth to the other. The midsummer wildflower meadows in the sub-alpine of mountains around Crested Butte stand out as among the most beautiful flowering landscape I have ever encountered. This painting was evoked by several visits and hikes in the Crested Butte area. It is not a painting of a specific scene, but an amalgamation of what I see in my mind when I think of my mid-summer visits to that area. Many species of wildflowers are depicted-a mere handfull of the remarkable diversity of stunning flowers that bloom there each summer.
