Butcher Brown
Description:
New album from five-piece jazz-hip-hop band Butcher Brown, led by a big band! Butcher Brown, a five-piece jazz-hip-hop band based in Richmond, releases their second album for Concord. The band's MC and multi-instrumentalist Tennyshoo raps throughout the album, using an innovative approach to classical jazz to create a hip-hop collage of jazz suite pieces. The album also includes a cover of The Notorious B.I.G.'s classic "Unbelievable". Bassist Andrew Randazzo says of the new album, "Everything about this band has become more refined and mature over the past few years, from playing and producing to recording, but our passion has remained the same from the beginning. Designer Lou Beach, who also created the 1977 Weather Report classic "Heavy Weather" and Butcher Brown's previous album "#KingButch," created the artwork for the new album. The Richmond, Virginia band brings elements of funk, soul, and rock to them for a fresh yet familiar, southern, sometimes psychedelic fusion. Butcher Brown has been a rare band that bridges jazz and hip-hop since 2013, and they are sure to gain more and more attention with this release. 180g heavy blue vinyl LP + 7inch.
